The Summer University of Pharmaco-Epidemiology (UPE) was created in response to a growing demand for information and continued education in the pharmaco-epidemiology field, particularly as demanded by health and regulatory authorities.
The UPE allows participants to acquire continued education credits while benefiting from their companies' training budgets (where applicable).
At each session, participants from the pharmaceutical industry (primarily medical, regulatory or health outcomes' departments) have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with scientific experts and health authority representatives (HAS, AFSSAPS, DGS, STOCKS, as well as CCTIRS, CNIL, CPP...).
Each year, around 50 participants attend. Since 2005, the first day has had an international theme and is presented in English.
These days are dedicated to theoretical sessions, round table discussions, practice case studies and themed workshops.
The UPE event has become a true institution anticipated by professionals in our field.
The first session was held in September 2004 in partnership with Paris VI (Master M2S).
The following 2005 session benefited from a dual partnership with the Universities of Lyon I and Chapel Hill (North Carolina, USA).
From 2006 to 2008, sessions were held in partnership with the University of Lyon I and McMaster University(Ontario, Canada).
In 2009 & 2010, UPE was supported by the PHISQUARE INSTITUT and McMaster University(Ontario, Canada).
